Chapter 1
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST

1 A Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him to show to His slaves things which must occur quickly. And He signified by sending through His angel to His slave, John, 2 who testified of the Word of God and the witness of Jesus Christ, even as many things as he saw. 3 Blessed is the one reading, and those hearing the words of this prophecy, and keeping the things having been written; for the time is near. 4 John to the seven churches in Asia: Grace to you, and peace, from the One who is, and who was, and who is coming, and from the seven spirits which are before His throne; 5 even from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the First-born out of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him loving us and washing us from our sins by His blood, 6 and made us kings and priests to God, even His Father. To Him is the glory and the might forever and ever. Amen. 7 “Behold, He comes with the clouds,” and “every eye will see Him, and the ones who pierced” Him, and all the tribes of the earth “will wail on account of Him.” Yes, Amen. Dan. 7:13; Zech. 12:10 8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, says the Lord, the One who is, and who was, and who is coming, the Almighty. 9 I, even your brother John, and co-sharer in the affliction, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, came to be in the island being called Patmos because of the Word of God, and because of the witness of Jesus Christ. 10 I came to be in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last; also, What you see, write in a scroll, and send to the seven churches of Asia: to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea. 12 And I turned to see the voice which spoke with me. 13 And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of man, having been clothed to the feet, and having been girded with a golden girdle at the breasts. 14 And the hairs of His head were white as white wool, as snow, and His eyes as a flame of fire; 15 and His feet like burnished brass having been fired in a furnace; and His voice as a sound of many waters; 16 and having in His right hand seven stars; and a sharp, two-edged sword proceeding out of His mouth, and His face shining as the sun in its power. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet, as dead. And He put His right hand on me, saying to me, Do not fear. I am the First and the Last, 18 and the Living One; and I became dead; and, behold, I am living forever and ever. Amen. And I have the keys to Hades, and of death. 19 Write what things you saw, and what things are, and what things are about to occur after these things. 20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw on My right, and the seven golden candlesticks: the seven stars are angels of the seven churches, and the seven candlesticks you saw are seven churches.

Order of Events John Told to Witness

  1. A revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave to Jesus to show EVERYONE what things must occur quickly. The message was sent and signified to John through one of Jesus’ angels.
  2. Blessing to all who reads and hears. The blessing comes from God, the seven Spirits before God’s throne, and Christ.
  3. Instruction to John to write in a scroll the things he sees and send to the seven churches in Asia, Ephesus, Smyrna, Per’gamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.
  4. John sees Christ and faints.
  5. Christ answers the mystery of the seven stars and the seven golden candlesticks.
  6. The seven stars are the seven angels of the seven churches.
  7. The seven golden candlesticks are the seven churches.

Lesson: There are only two churches that Jesus found no fault with, and that was the church of Smyrna and the Church of Philadelphia. Our goal in these lessons is to strive to be like the Church of Philadelphia, the church that Jesus loves. In order to be like the church that he loves, we have to be true to the Word of God, no matter how harsh. It’s a painful process because this book forces us all to look at how we worship God, where we worship God, what is going on in our church, and in our lives. And if we are honest with ourselves, we have all been guilty of some of the things that Christ finds fault with even if it is somewhat remote and innocent. These lessons follow the true teachings of Jesus Christ and all of the prophets who were inspired to by God to write as he told John to do in this book. Jesus told John to write the things that he has seen, and in the coming lessons, I am writing the things that I have seen as it relates to the Holy Word of God.

Jesus took a poll a long time ago. In that poll we find that only 2 out of 7 assemblies were doing what they were supposed to do. Because Jesus said to Peter..” Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church….”, we have to understand what it was that Jesus was telling Peter. What Jesus was saying to Peter is that God is a Spirit and we who worship God must worship in Spirit and in Truth.

There is no a building on this earth that can house God. The earthly building is not where God resides. God resides inside of each and every human being on this earth who has the heart to know God or want to know God. It does not matter what your state in life is, God can make his foundation on you stronger than any building. Until we understand that, we are chasing shadows by seeking out the earthly instead of the heavenly. These lessons in Revelation is referencing churches. What Jesus is talking about in all of these lessons, is YOU.

God wants children who want to know him. All you have to do is talk to the Spirit of God. There will be times ahead where you need to be sure, who God is, because the evil one will be there ready to take your soul.

Even though this lesson references “church or churches”, we must individually examine our relationship with God and it does not matter if you are Jewish, Muslim, Christian, or any other religion. God’s salvation and judgment is on each and every human on this earth.

I am saying this on a personal note and I do not care who gets offended. I am sick and tired of Christians bashing Jewish people, Jewish people bashing Christians, everyone bashing Muslims, and other religions, because Jesus said “He who is least in the Kingdom is the greatest.”

When God comes for judgment and all that is written it this book, your religion will not matter. The building you worship in, will not matter. Your skin color will not matter. Where you were born will not matter. The only thing that will matter is what is truly in your heart, and ONLY GOD can see that.
