The Two Beasts

CHAPTER 13:1-18
THE TWO BEASTS

REVIEW LAST LESSON Last lesson in Revelation Chapter 12, we saw a war in heaven between Michael and his Angels and Satan and his angels. Satan was so busy fighting that he did not realize that he had been kicked out of heaven and cast to earth. He knows that he has but a short time and he continues to make war with the woman who keeps the commandments of God and has the testimony of Jesus Christ. Satan knows that he does not have much time to deceive the world, and we learn in the chapter coming up that those whose names are not written in the Book of Life will worship Satan.

The Two Beasts 1 And I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten diadems, and on its heads names of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and its feet as of a bear, and its mouth as a lion’s mouth. And the dragon gave its power to it, and its throne, and great authority.

3 And I saw one of its heads, as having been slain to death, and its deadly wound was healed. And all the earth marveled after the beast. 4 And they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast; who is able to make war with it? 5 And a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies was given to it. And authority to act forty two months was given to it. 6 And it opened its mouth in blasphemy toward God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, and those tabernacling in Heaven. 7 And it was given to it “to war with the saints, and to overcome them.” And authority was given to it over every tribe and tongue and nation. Dan. 7:21 8 And all those dwelling in the earth will worship it, those of whom the names had not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb having been slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

10 If anyone gathers captivity, into captivity he goes. If anyone will kill by a sword, by a sword he must be killed. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11 And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. And it had two horns like a lamb, but spoke like a dragon. 12 And it executes all the authority of the first beast before it. And it causes that the earth and those dwelling in it should worship the first beast, of which was healed its deadly wound. 13 And it does great signs, that even fire it causes to come down out of the heaven onto the earth before men. 14 And it deceives those dwelling on the earth, because of the signs which were given to it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling on the earth to make an image to the beast who has the wound of the sword, and lived. 1

5 And was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak, and might cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 And the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the freemen and the slaves, it causes that they give to them all a mark on their right hand, or on their foreheads, 17 even that not any could buy or sell, except the one having the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of its name. 18 Here is wisdom: Let the one having reason count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man and its number is six hundred and sixty six.

We are now entering the time that Jesus warned us about in Matthew and Mark. Jesus said: Matthew 24: 15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)

The events in Revelation 13 and Daniel 7, 11, and 12 show us what the abomination of desolation is. This is the time where Satan will stand in the holy place claiming to be God. Everyone whose name is not written in the Book of Life will worship Satan. A great blasphemy against God and his name and temple will be done.

This is the time that those who do not know their Lord will receive the mark of the beast. These people who worship Satan will not make it unless they repent, and some will wake to everlasting shame and contempt. When God is finally revealed, they will regret the day they worshipped a man. That’s the mark of the beast. Those wandering after Satan will be worshiping a man.

This will infuriate God, and the abomination of desolation will have been set up and Satan’s end shall come, as well as the end to all of his followers. The mark of the beast is the number of a man and signifies when Satan will come. Also, don’t forget, Cain was the first one to get the mark of the beast. Just as it was in the beginning, so it shall be in the end.

Satan will come before Christ. Those who choose to be ignorant of the word of God will follow after Satan. God said “I will send them a strong delusion, that they would believe a lie”. Satan will look like Jesus. He will try to act like Jesus. The world right now goes nuts over a rock star. When Satan comes back looking like Christ, most who do not know the Word of God will worship Satan and the abomination will have been setup.

They will not know until Christ actually comes that they all have been worshipping a man. When the heavens open as a scroll and they see the real Christ, some will wake to everlasting shame and contempt, and some to everlasting life. Those who are here on this earth whom the Lord has sealed will not receive the mark of the beast. God is a spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Flesh and blood cannot enter the Kingdom of God.

DANIEL tells us what is going to happen during this time. Note that when the gospel speaks of “beasts” it is talking about kings and kingdoms. The “horns” are nations. Daniel’s Dream of the Four Beasts 1In the first year of Belshaz’zar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

2Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. 3And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 4The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it. 5And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. 6After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

7After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. 8I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

9I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. 10A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 11I beheld then, because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake:

I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 12As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. 13I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

15I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 16I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. 17These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. 18But the saints of the Most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; 20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. 23Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

24And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25And he shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

26But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 27And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
